K9 Nose Work® Classes
​We have found that nose work helps the shy and fearful dog work though their fear by giving them fun enjoyable activity to focus on while getting highly rewarded. The olfactory works with the brain and in turn the dog learns to ignore the fearful stimulus making it less fearful in time. This also holds true for a reactive dog which we work with on a private basis.

Inspired by working detection dogs, K9 Nose Work is the fun search and scenting activity for virtually all dogs and people. This easy to learn activity and sport builds confidence and focus in many dogs, and provides a safe way to keep dogs fit and healthy through mental and physical exercise.
K9 Nose Work starts with getting your dog excited about using his nose to seek out a favorite toy or treat reward hidden in one of several boxes, expanding the game to entire rooms, exterior areas, and vehicles. As your dog grows more confident with his nose, target odors are introduced, and competition skills are taught.

Classes are very structured. Dogs take turns searching. When not searching the dogs are confined in their vehicle or crate, Dogs do not interact with each other in this sport. Signature of our waiver of liability required to participate.

Beginner Classes - We don't have any beginner classes right now, sorry!
K9 Nose Work Level 1:
The Beginning
This is the beginner class. Have fun watching your dog use their noses! ​There are no beginner classes currently available.
K9 Nose Work Level 2:
Intro to Odor
In this class you and your dog will be searching all four elements: Interior, Exterior, Vehicle and Containers. Pairing with a primary reinforcer is key for this level. Birch will be introduced. There are no level 2 classes currently available.
K9 Nose Work Level 3:
Putting it Together
After Intro to Odor you and your dog can continue to build your nose work skills searching exteriors, vehicles, interiors and containers. Accessible hides will be worked in different environments & locations. Pairing is still happening as you are working on a final response. This will get the team ready for the Advanced classes. There are no level 3 classes currently available.
K9 Nose Work Advanced:
NW1 - NW2
This class runs in 4-week sessions. The teams must be working on the NW1 and/or NW2 levels. The dogs must be searching for all three odors of birch, anise and clove. We will be working with accessible and inaccessible hides depending on the level the dog is at. All four elements will be searched. You don’t have to compete to enjoy coming to class, but your dog must be able to search for all three odors.

K9 Nose Work Advanced:
NW3 - Elite
This class runs in 4-week sessions. The class will focus on the skills needed for NW3 and Elite. You don’t have to compete to join the class but you do have to be at this skill level.
